Jungle Book

2 years in per-production

800 artist were involved in the process working in there LA, London, Bangalore offices.

54 animal species were used in refences, 1200 shots and 95 minutes’ runtime.

Primary filmed and edited in London, Bangalore. There approached was simple the director was all was very involved from the get go and gave the artist some creative freedom when I came to their own approached provided they stayed with the guide lines. Key-framed all of the characters, for refences they used real animals and watched hours of footage of tigers, wolves, elephants walking, running, interacting with one another to so that could put all of this into their creations, full CG and 3D environments and 3DDMP for the far background. Multiple FX set-ups for water, fire, earth and rain.

Virtual production MPC used a game engine to show the director what the scenes would look like as they were shooting in blue scene studio, so all there was no way of telling how the scene would look until the edit and this is why the uniaty game engine was used they had their artist create a slam compt of the scenes (using the story board) and added simple light texture and then connected it to the camera that way when the director looked at the monitor he could see the whole scene.

Animal and children to help the child actor they used tennis balls, puppets that way they would get the right emotion and eye level. For the animals, a skeleton model was created then mussel layer, skin texture, fur then rendered. There biggest challenge was lips as animals don’t talk and some don’t even have lips this fell on the artist to keep the phot realism.
