Josh is a compositor at Double Negative, He came in to talk to us about the transition of leaving university and getting a job in the industry and what that transition was like for him also the do and don't of the industry that he picked up. Josh started working at MPC (moving picture production) before going to Double Negative and he also dose some writing for 3D world and lectures at university, at this point he told us that the VFX industry is a small one and the people you go to university with you'll probably end up working with them in the future, so its best to try and be apart of the industry by singing up to different VFX pages on social media and go to talks and meet-ups. A compositor has to construct the final image by using different layer, render animation, special effects and 2D animation. In other world they could be given a image of a house and the client wants snow and more trees, a compositor will add snow to the house and surrounding area to add detail smoke will be coming from the chimney. Josh spoke about some of his work such as 50 Shades of grey, wonder woman, the martian, guardians of the galaxy and sector, He then showed us break downs of these film and spoke about the effects, some tips Josh gave us was to work out side university so that we get are foots in the door early to also using social media to show are work and get feedback, the most important of these sides was Don't be a dick by this he means be polite, show interest if you dont know something ask and when you show your work and ask for feedback dont angry if people dont like it, all of this pay of in the future as some one will decide weather or not you'll get a job or not.

For me this talk was the most insightful as it put to rest some of concerns about the VFX industry and its was a fresh look at the industry as a lot of the time we get talks from people who have 30 plus year and its changed in that time so some one more are age was great because he's gone thought the same process.
