Its been a bad week for us in terms of movie we watch at are weekly film clubs, first we had 2001 space odyssey which had some amazing effects for it time but the slow pacing just ruined it for me moving on to Alvin and the chipmunks that some how is a squeal.

Before I delve into the car wreck that it made 234.8 million I also wanted to include this quote from a movie reviewer "It's easy to ask yourself why these forgettable Chipmunk movies keep happening, but the answer is simple: money" and that's why films like this give visual effect and general movie making a bad name. Anyway I'd like to start on some positives which are, shadows, lighting and bending, In one of the outdoor scenes the chipmunks were really badly compted as they had no shadows and way too much ambient light. I was surprised to learn that Weta was behind the visual effects during the film I kept wondering how this film was approved and it all goes back tot he quote money the studio knew that only kids would see this and kids don't pay attention to the vfx of a film.
