Hugo VFX breakdown

In the scene we see Hugo having a nightmare about being turned into an automaton. The best way to break this scene down is by knowing that they build his room and pumped some steam under the floor, they later added more steam coming down from the ceiling and walls to give his room a more mechanical feeling. Use a motion capture suit that covered his chest and legs with red dots in around his joints and chest so that they could later replicate the automaton chest which all the mechanical parts and his joints, Hugo wears a rob over the motion capture suit after the first cog they use a cgi robe. Rob legaton was the Vfx supervise, as the scene plays out we zoom into hugos face several cogs come across the screen this is where they used this as there mark points to cut the shot. They filmed several times Hugo's reaction to being turned into an automaton, this was done to show the transformation of Hugo's face and uper-body.
