Elgin park is a miniature town that has been photographed in a way to make it seem like a real american town, it's creator Michael Paul Smith wanted to make these images colourless and very simple so that when people look at the photographs people will say oh that looks like my house or my old school.

He makes his models on a table and photographs them in a close low angle that give a false perspective and fools the eye into think these are real places.

His work is technically special effects as he build and paints everything but we use visual effects to trick people into believing the world they see on the screen are real which is what Michael is doing. I find his work every present and interesting as it all stems from his childhood the idea that he was different from the other kids and he never fit in is something that everyone struggles with and find a way to deal with.
